I have lived in Ohio since I was 8 years old. Snow, ice, freezing cold. I get it. It's part of the gig. Or is it?
For whatever reason, this year we have been blessed with unseasonably warm weather. February has been even more gorgeous than the rest. We had multiple days in the 70s. The 70s people!
A few weeks ago, a new client emailed me to take advantage of the beautiful weather.. This was a first, let me tell you. If you don't know me, you may not know that I am also an accountant. Therefore, I am normally waist deep (sometimes shoulder deep!) in taxes by February. That works out great though, since no one really wants outdoor sessions this time of year. My 2 careers have been happily married since I first picked up my camera in 2013. However, the chance to actually have my camera in hand during tax season thrilled me! Decision made, on an extremely gorgeous, sunny day in February, I went off to meet the Wilburn family.
We met at Aullwood Gardens (one of my most favorite places) to capture some stunning moments. This was their first winter in Ohio, as they had recently moved from Kansas. It didn't take long for me to explain that this weather was not normal! The universe was easing them into it. I mean, I don't remember the last time I was in jeans and a t-shirt at 6pm during February without freezing my booty off.
We walked and talked, and of course, we occasionally stopped for photos! The mom and dad were so cute together. Laughter was never missing from this session! The boys were great. They were all so comfortable in front of the camera. It made it so easy to capture perfect photos of them. We took a lot of family photos along the way. As we were nearing the end of the session, their newest just couldn't hang anymore. Poor little guy pooped out on me. I mean, being that handsome wears you out man!
I cannot express how much I enjoyed meeting this family, and the opportunity I have to photograph them again in the next few months.
Welcome to Ohio the Wilburn family, and thanks for bringing a little bit of that Kansas weather with you!
